Flatrate have teamed up with Love Milton to start work on a new community performance project for the Milton area of Glasgow. Working with the people of Milton in open workshops and rehearsals, we will create an interactive walking tour – a bit of drama with legs – that celebrates Milton’s past, and wanders about its future. The project will be documented here on our website in a blog you can read online – just follow this link for the latest updates.
The project will be led by Rosamund Grimshaw and Lizzie Fenwick. Our early workshops and activities will focus on finding interesting stories, places and people in Milton, whilst also building up a core group of performers and collaborators who will then go on to devise and perform the walking tour. We’re hoping to examine what traces of Milton’s past we can find, whilst also coming up with some ideas for the future and creating a piece of theatre that is above all exciting and engaging. We hope you can join us.
If you fancy getting involved in the project, or you think you can help out in any way, then please drop us a line by emailing roz[at]flatratestate[dot]com and don’t forget to keep up with our blog
Love Milton are a community organisation working out of Colston Parish Church to find new and sustainable ways of bringing Milton together, and providing local services that really benefit local people. Their ethos fits in very well with ours, and we’re hoping this partnership will be beneficial for everybody involved.
